Long Board Meeting, Yonge St. & St.Clair September 12, 2015

Organizers had started this annual meeting 9 years ago to promote longboarding. From what was a few dozen attendees to now many hundreds gathered at Yonge & St.Clair for the annual meet.DSC_0053 DSC_0055 DSC_0071 DSC_0068 It was a pleasant enough Saturday and this part of Toronto seemed like most Saturdays. People shopped, picked up their cleaning, grabbed a bite to eat. People in fancy cars honked and cursed at each other for stopping where they shouldn’t, when for a brief moment this happened.DSC_0087 DSC_0091 DSC_0093 DSC_0102 Many hundreds of longboard enthusiasts took to the streets. No permits, no escorts, just many hundreds of longboarders, dressed in shirts and ties(it was  a board meeting after all)dropped in and took over Yonge St. Most of the customers and shop keepers left their tables and posts and watched this fun spectacle. The joy on the faces were proof that the sport has become extremely popular.DSC_0107 DSC_0110 DSC_0129 DSC_0126 The cars stopped honking and the wave headed south eventually all the way to Kensington Market.DSC_0143 DSC_0148 DSC_0149 DSC_0152 It was over in a few minutes, the world seemed to return to normal and I was reminded of the power of large numbers all joined in a common pursuit. As always,Enjoy Toronto!~
