I took advantage of another beautiful Saturday to take a walk into the bowels of Parkdale. A chance to meet up with a friend and local artist Iner Souster. Iner has had a month long showing at a wonderful little spot at 1664 Queen St.W.(1 block east of Roncesvalles) called Jinks Tattoos & Coffee owned and operated by these two wonderful ladies,Jen Wetmore and Sarah Wetmore. Every month they feature a different local artist in their cozy and delightful coffee shop. Iner creates these wonderful robotic creatures and such from materials that have been gathered and saved from things that people have tossed to the curb over the last few decades. What used to be one man’s trash has taken on a new life in these wonderful and whimsical creations that remind us of our past with a hint of futuristic humour. Iner has found a renewed energy these days and speaks happily about his goal of creating one of these pieces a day. In his words, a great way to unclutter his apartment/work space! There are enough pieces currently that I can’t show them all but have included some of my favourites. After this current show ends Sunday evening this collection will be divided up and shown in three different Parkdale locations. These pieces are for sale and I can promise if you buy one for your space you will smile every time you look at it. Thanks again Iner for sharing them, thanks to Jen & Sarah, your shop is awesome, so nice to see such support for local artists.I can’t wait to see some of the things you have coming up, and yes the coffee is incredible too!
