York-Eglinton International Street Festival,Eglinton Ave.W. Toronto, August 16, 2015

Another sunny Sunday, another street festival! The York-Eglinton International Street Festival took over Eglinton Ave.W. this weekend DSC_0206 DSC_0208 DSC_0197I got there at about 1:00 in the afternoon which according to some vendors I spoke to was much too early. Apparently this is more of an evening affair.DSC_0188 DSC_0173
It did give me the opportunity to walk about without too much jostling and line-ups, which is a welcome change from some of the places I have been to recently. Lots of Sesame Street characters and princesses for the kids, a petting zoo and lots of rides made sure the youngsters were well entertained.DSC_0210 DSC_0169 DSC_0226 Lots of great food and treats as well and it seemed that every second or third business offered haircuts and styling or a chance to record music.DSC_0176 DSC_0225 In the hours I was there I got to enjoy some incredible local talent. This young lady, Jade Hilton, incredibly talented at the age of 19, did a set of a few covers and some of her own originals. At about 4:00 I looked westward to see that yes indeed another wonderful, diverse, fun street festival had taken shape.DSC_0260 I got the overwhelming feeling though that this was an older neighborhood about to go through some major changes. New condo sales signs lined any empty properties, and at the end, just before getting on the Subway, a reminder that they have already built a tunnel under it.DSC_0265As always get out and enjoy Toronto!~
