The Toronto Indy does just that. I went down on Saturday to see, feel, hear, smell the speedfest that takes over the Exhibition grounds every year. Because of a scheduling change(due to the Panam games)the IRL only ran one race this year, but Saturday was still filled with a lot of exciting events for race fans of all ages.
There is a very real sensory buzz to someone driving that fast live. There is a palbable smell, taste and feel of danger and excitement that these races bring. Saturday featured Porsches, trucks and the important feeder league that produces some of the newest and finest drivers of tomorrow up to speed, so to speak.
Unfortunately due to more fencing seen in public since the G20 it was very difficult to get on track action shots but I did figure out if you find the right spot these awesome machines and their pilots are surprisingly accessible.
The cars themselves are quite a treat visually. From Scott Dixon’s “Jurassic World” colours to lucky mascots these cars are the stuff a boy’s dreams are made of. A fun day on the streets of Toronto indeed!
. An event well worth checking out and as always enjoy Toronto.
